I’d consider getting the Aspire and/or Brilliant card and “suffer” through the “indignity” of having only those elite statuses. Frankly, the Diamond breakfast last month at the Hilton Helsinki Airport was quite nice, and they offered me late checkout and a junior suite upgrade.
Can’t recall the last time I’ve stayed in a Marriott (prob Sheraton CDG), but the Hilton free breakfast abroad is quite good, especially in Asia. I’m a big fan of paid for status; I mean, if Hilton & Marriott are giving you points to hold status, why not? It’s one of those deals I’d sign up for on general principle.
It really puzzles me why more don’t take advantage advantage of those two cards.
