Bad news on the 10K bonus promotion

Ok. Here is what I got so far:

Called Amex and they said that they only award 5K. According to them, the extra 5K is awarded by Aeroplan directly. He gave me a couple of suggestions:
1) Apply for a new card
2) Call Aeroplan

I went with option 2 and called the SE desk. The person who answered me was unaware of any Amex promotion and called their support desk (long wait - 15 minutes or so...).

She was still unable to find the promotion, so I directed her to the correct URL. After another 10 minutes of silence on the line she said she didn't have access to it and was going to call the support desk again...

Waited another 15 to 20 minutes.

She finally came back and said that the 10k bonus is only applicable for applications received via the web site between the dates of Nov. 17 and Dec. 31. Since I've been a cardholder since Sep., it's not applicable to me.

I don't think I want to go through the trouble of cancelling this card and then applying for another card to get the extra 5k (or would it be 10k then?). Anyway, this is the end of this road for me.
