I have stayed at both Borgo Egnazia and Masseria Maizza. I enjoyed both properties. However, they are very different experiences. Borgo is more like a re-creation of a Puglian village while the Rocco Forte property retains more of its farmhouse roots, albeit cloaked in luxury. If you have the time and don’t mind splitting your stays I would try both properties. I am headed to Puglia later this year and am choosing to stay at Borgo but dine at the Rocco Forte hotel a couple times as the restaurant setting is so beautiful. I believe both hotels have beach clubs too. I can only speak to the Borgo version, which is very pretty but there is no sandy beach.
Another thought would be San Michele Suites in Polignano a Mare. This is a beautiful seaside town and SMS is set directly on a cliff overlooking the sea. The town is a 25 minute drive from Savelettri.
BTW, you don’t mention budget, but I was shocked how much prices have risen at Borgo since the date of my last stay in 2019. Obviously reflective of global hotel inflation post pandemic, it is still very jarring. Back in 2019 for a “Borgo Splendida” room I paid approx 640E per night. That same room is now >1000E per night. I am sure room prices at the Rocco Forte property have suffered the same fate.
Oh, and I do recall that at roughly the same category of room Borgo offered more space. Masseria Maizza rooms were more of average size.
