1) YOU could not open another Platinum Card and receive a bonus unless the offer does not include language disqualifying previous cardholders. Your spouse could open a Platinum card if they have not previously held one. YOU could open another type of Platinum card, such as Business Platinum, Morgan Stanley Platinum or Charles Schwab Platinum, but the last two require accounts with the sponsoring brokerages.

2) Referral offers cannot be used to downgrade or upgrade an existing account. The offers apply only when opening a new account.
