A few questions and comments about Avis President's Club.
1. I was apparently upgraded to Avis PC for this year with absolutely zero notification from Avis. I only figured it out when I arrived at an airport and was assigned a vehicle I didn't want so I went to the counter and asked for a swap as the app said there was nothing available. This forced a rental agreement printout and at that point I realized I was PC. Is it normal for Avis to not notify people of status upgrades?
2. I think Avis PC comes with at 24 hour advanced reservation guarantee. So why am I still getting errors online that places I'm trying to rent from are sold out and I'm booking 3-7 days in advance? Can you only use this perk via calling an 800#? If so, what number?
3. Ever since last year (roughly the summer), 90% of my car returns have resulted in the contract not being closed. Some even actually scan the car in when I return to the airport and STILL the contract isn't closed. What is going on? I'm having a lot of problems trying to get rental cars as they tell me I have a rental active in a completely different city. They have a way to manually override this in the computer but then it shows I have 2+ active rentals. The worst is Germany where my contract stays open for 2-3 weeks. I rent a ton from MCO as well and those are usually 3-5 days. DCA is third worst for me. WTH happened to people scanning the cars in and the contract being closed immediately? I have already taken to having pictures of the odometer and fuel gauge, the garage and the car itself. Multiple times I have called the general Avis 800# and had them close the contract. Usually that works but it's a waste of my time.
4. This is on me but I had no clue United 1K would have gotten me Avis PC as of last year. Not sure it really would have mattered as all I keep getting assigned are massive trucks and SUVs which I have absolutely zero interest in. I just want a car like a Maxima or Altima.
