Residence Inn Portland Downtown Riverplace [Master Thread]
I had a five-night stay here in March. They were just wrapping up the renovations on the hotel, with only touchup work and the bar remodeling left. I paid about $750 for 5 nights on a prepaid rate.
The location is okay. About 10-15 minute walk to center of city, 5 minutes to waterfront and marina. There is a tram stop 100m from the hotel which we found very convenient. The area seemed pretty safe, with a Hyatt House across the street and a new housing complex near the marina. A few upscale restaurants, but no supermarket.
The bridge/highway goes over the hotel, but we didn't really notice much noise.
We were upgraded to a King 1BR, which was quite spacious. Full kitchen, dining table (two chairs), two huge TVs, vanity etc.
Pool was a bit small and packed with kids. Hot tub was nice. Gym had about 6 cardio machines and dumbbells.
Lots of familes with kids on spring break. Not a surprise give the size of the rooms and free breakfast.
There is a garage with covered parking. Not sure about the cost.
Staff were quite friendly. Breakfast wasn't bad, with waffle machines, bagels, yogurt, oatmeal, cereals, eggs, sausage etc.
No one mentioned an elite amenity welcome gift when I checked in (should be 500 points or something from the snack bar). I asked some staff about that and they said they usually give the points automatically.
Later I sent an email to the GM and she said it was a mistake not to recognize status and give a choice. She gave me 10,000 points, which was more than I expected.
