Hotel Vance, Portland, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, OR [Master Thread]

I spent a night there recently. It is a fairly new hotel with a modern feel, a bit like a Moxy/Aloft.
It consists of a few floors of a large office building. It's in a convenient location downtown, a few blocks from the river, Pioneer Square, PSU etc.
There is a bar/restaurant on the first floor and a space with couches and shuffleboard on the second floor.
The room was okay size and priced at $136 (tx included). Everything was black/white/red. There were a number of features that made it feel like they made a nice-looking room on the cheap (ie IKEA).

The gym was okay. All new equiptment.

The elite breakfast was a set menu of about 5 choices. The portions were a bit on the small side and ordering a second choice would incur a charge.

At check-in the guy (apparently his first week in the job) didn't mention my status, suite night/elite upgrade or welcome amenity gift. I asked about the gift and he said he forgot and gave me a ticket for 2 breakfasts.

The next day I asked the person at the desk about the guarantee, and she soon put 10,000 points in my account. She explained the hotel had been full, so no upgrade was possible. I am not sure if I believe her, as a couple days before I had seen a few types of rooms available.

I had a pre-paid rate and attached a suite night, but nothing came of it. In fact, they said they never got the suite request. Despite that Marriott deducted one night from my account, but after a phone call they returned it three days later.

All in all I would recommend the hotel as an affordable Bonvoy property in downtown Portland, but it is nothing that special.
