Hotel: Duniway Hotel, Portland OR (Hilton), April 2-3, 2023 (1 night)
Room Booked: King Premier
Rate: $209
Early Check-in: Arrived at 3 PM and room was ready for me.
Late Checkout:
Did not use, we left at 11 AM, but 4 PM checkout was offered at check-in
Upgrade: Given a room on the 20th (top) floor, at the end of a corridor. Was nice to not hear footsteps above us, and share only one wall.
$100 Food & Beverage Credit: Main restaurant closed on Sunday evening, but used the dining credit in the bar/lounge for dinner and drinks. $102 including tip (I had a filet, my much better half had salmon cakes, plus a glass of riesling for my better half and a couple pints for me) -- all but $2 of it was covered by credit
Breakfast: $30 per person ($60 total) in the restaurant. Total bill was $58 including tip, all covered by the credit
Comment: I live on the Oregon coast and I had a Monday medical appointment in "the city" so we decided to just go out Sunday, spend some time in the city, and use the FHR credit. The room was nice enough, and quiet. Main restaurant was closed on Sunday evenings but we could either use the lounge/bar and order there (which we did) or go across the street to another Hilton property where the grill was open. Either would have been able to use the $100 credit. We had a breakfast (both got bacon, eggs, toast, fruit, juice and coffee) and then walked 7 blocks over to Powell's Books to browse before going back to the hotel and checking out. Had I realized the tip was also covered in the credit, I would have tipped an extra $2 to use the full $60. This is my first experience with the FHR program, so live and learn....

I saw at the time of booking that there was supposed to be a $26 "resort fee" payable to the hotel on arrival, but it was never charged (Is this waived for FHR, or for lowly Hilton Golds? I didn't think so). Our entire bill when checking out was.... $2. And I just checked my Hilton account today and I got 7,323 Hilton points for the stay (including the 80% bonus for Gold status), which cost us about $46 in total (including original rate plus taxes minus $200 statement credit, and incidentals minus credits). Oh, and as Hilton Honors member, we got two "free" bottles of water which they normally charge $4 for in the room. Wheeeeee!
