Since these are separate tickets you'll have to claim your bags at T4 then drag them around the corner to TBIT to check in with TN.

So yea, your estimation sounds correct in that you'll have about ~1.5 hrs. to kill landside at LAX from the time you grab your bags until the TN check in desks open.

I'm not sure what landisde restaurant or coffee shop options there are in T4 and TBIT, but I would probably plan to just plop down somewhere and kill an hour.
