I don't know if it's just a few of us that had problems, but since for me and some other folks on the thread aa.com wouldn't let you choose your award online on the 30th and since none of the documentation specifies a way to choose an award other than online, I'd say it's at least somewhat AA's fault.

(Based on advice here, I did get my reward by calling in, but the error the website was giving just said to keep trying online so I suspect people who were actually following AA's directions on the last day may have gotten screwed through no fault of their own.)
