Not long ago, I was on a flight from HKG to PEK, and after multiple go arounds due to wind sheer and icy conditions, including one attempt where the plane was within 100 ft of the runway. We eventually landed at TSN. PEK is Beijing and TSN is Tianjin. Also an INTL flight, so we couldn't leave the plane for hours (eventually, pax were allowed to deplane, and some of us cleared immigration at TSN instead).
The moral of the story, things happen sometime. While three go arounds might have been more than the norm, there likely were other factors not yet communicated/disclosed publicly. This was an inconvenience for affected crew and pax, but the most important thing was the safe landing.
