I know there has been a lot of negative chatter about NZ J being very outdated but IMO if you have the cash, then the upgrade is highly worth it. Very pleasant on the Tasman hop, but would have been highly appreciated on the transpacific slog. Did not sleep a wink in PE as without the lie flat recline I found it impossible to nod off for more than a few minutes. I cannot imagine toughing it out in 10 across Y
Last year I purchased exit row seats in Y both ways AKL-LAX-AKL to ease the pain slightly, but no availability to do this AKL-YVR-AKL. No Recognition upgrades cleared as aircraft were packed. At least the 789 is 3-3-3.
Thankfully for upcoming flights I have a double RU (gifted) clear AKL-YVR Y->J , and my one remaining RU clear YVR-AKL Y->PE. Pity you can't stack a OneUp bid on a successful RU.
