Two sets of parents with infants were up in arms when they saw that they were in the 3rd row instead of being at the bulkhead. Hard not to overhear as the parents repeatedly kept telling the flight attendants (while boarding was still in progress) that they had "confirmed" bassinet seats. Maybe there was some kind of last minute airframe swap as the seatmap on expertflyer displayed the bulkhead as row 45 earlier in the day.
as a parent who used to fly with infants, I can understand the frustration those parents would have felt. If I had booked a bulk head seat with the expectation that I would have a bassinet for my infant only to find out that my seat had been swapped and someone without an infant was in the seat I had booked, I know for sure that the entire cabin would know about it 😡
Having said that, I would never book a bassinet seat now, knowing that there is a very high risk of FAs asking me to give my seat to parents with infants. I wouldn’t want to risk being forced into a seat that I hadn’t chosen.
we fly with 3 children on long haul flights every year (most recently in December22/January 23) ages 6,9 and 11.. they sat in normal economy seats and slept perfectly well. They leaned on each other and were comfortable with pillows and blankets. It’s easy for kids to sleep on planes. Unlike adults, they contort into whatever shape is necessary and that’s that. I wouldn’t worry.
and certainly no sleeping on floors. So dangerous not being buckled in when there’s turbulence, not to mention in an emergency evacuation .. I would hate to imagine… 😬😬😬
