My guess is that the AG office considered this a fraud situation on part of USB since I paid for the vgc but never could use funds on card. No bank wants to be accused of fraud so USB paid up quickly.
The really crazy part after receiving the USB refund check for amount of vgc was that eventually I was able to access the funds on the card and drain it! 😊😊. So the USB morons never deactivated my card. Total idiots! My conscience was clear tho since USB screws us over…as you are now well aware. God luck and I’m sure you will get your funds from USB thru the AG office.
Not so easy for me. I didn't get a check but I did get a letter from the AG's office saying they don't usually get involved unless there are enough complaints to warrant a class action lawsuit. They suggested that I contact the CFPB. And they provided forms for me to fill out, basically re-stating what I wrote on their website, but on paper. They mentioned that written complaints are better. (But then what's the point of the website form?) Anyway, I'll be filling out those forms and mailing them back next.
Sounds like your case is the exception, not the rule. By the way, which state is your AG located? Mine is in California. Maybe different states handle these cases differently.
