I may be wrong but I thought I once read that although you don't get other status benefits when booking indirectly, the booking itself counts towards (re)qualification - is that the case?

Reason I'm asking is that I got a mail saying that if I stayed a night by 31 March, I'd keep Silver (yeah I know...) - I've actually got a night tomorrow booked indirectly, so wondering if it's even worth pleading for it to be counted...
