If your luggage is checked through to SGN — give UA extra time to do it, and I don’t know if they’ll balk at a mixed-cabin check-through — it should be transferred to SQ even if you have to go through arrival formalities at SIN. Or, heck, even if you just want to go spend the layover at Jewel.
This the trick to getting bags checked through SIN-SGN is on another ticket, though I've not used it since Dec 2019. Arriving 2 days later sends SHARES over the edge. A very nice agent gave me this & it's always worked. After the SQ SIN-SGN segment is added:
