Last August, I had a one night reservation because I was due to land at LHR around 10pm. I wanted a place to just get to the hotel as quick as possible and as inexpensively as possible and then carry on the next day with my London itinerary of 3 nights at GSY followed by 3 nights Churchill.

However, my flight was delayed and I would not be arriving in London until the following day. I called Hyatt and tried to cancel my HP reservation. The rep told me I couldn't do that or I would have to pay the room rate per their cancellation policy. But.....he did say all you have to do is change your date to another date in the future and that would avoid me having to pay the cancellation fee. Then, you wait 1-2 days and cancel the future reservation. It worked beautifully!
