I dropped him and he checked a bag and went to the gate
Creeping delays all day. At one point offered a downgrade on to a 1:15PM departure from DCA but it was already 11:50. One hour 25 minutes to get to DCA, recheck a bag and get through security.
Delayed again until 2:00
Then 2:30
Then told it would be probably 6pm and moved him to the 5:08 and downgraded.

basically his 10AM arrival in DFW turned into 8PM (problem with the jet bridge on arrival)

He heard people being reaccomadated but was in a situation where DFW was his destination and it was an award ticket. Was not offered anything and I am afraid he did not ask for much (no food vouchers, no other airlines, nothing available through CLT (I think those were taken by revenue psgrs)

They told him they would deal with the downgrade after he got to Dallas....

How the heck do we get compensation. And what is really appropriate? I think the difference in Y and C was about 15-20k miles for the outbound but that does not sound adequate to me.

any ideas?

And they did not reimburse me for hotel rooms (I didn't wait in the line for the voucher- for each of the 3, it was after 9pm, and the lines were "Disney-line" long). You can reach out to them through the contact AA form, and request more, and perhaps you will get additional. Perhaps others can comment with more recent data points.
So 7,500 miles showed up today as "customer service bonus". No mention of refund for downgrade from first to economy. Is that something I will need to request? I was on the upgrade list but no one cleared.

And 6;00AM (6:55am flight) getting to the airport to a 5:08pm departure with no food voucher.

Abysmal service. I think as a first class award ticket with passenger with no status treatment was different than others ..... But that is just my opinion.
