- I’ve been to Istanbul before, and am perfectly fine going on a 4 hour adventure to the Grand Bazaar.
- I’m willing to deal with difficult situations (clearly I made the post)
I post this for the multiple people who’ve tried to say how terrible an idea this is and how “risky” when I clearly realize up front, the worst case scenario is I lose a day and ~$200/ticket to get to Budapest.
What is helpful is people who have shared specific experiences or specifically why something may or May not work out, which gives me the information to weigh the risk.
"...the worst case scenario is
I lose a day"
I recognise this will be yet more musing, and another opinion you haven't invited, but I'm left wondering if you've consulted your honeymoon-partner on the scenario you are proposing. He/she may well be happy inserting an unnecessary half-day in your schedule to ricochet around Istanbul before getting to your honeymoon destination, and be prepared for the additional stress of awkward interactions with Turkish ground staff. Not all travel-geeks are fortunate enough to find fellow geeks as life partners
It seems to me that as the organiser of the trip you might consider working on making a long, tiring, jet-lag laden journey to your honeymoon destination as comfortable and as stress-free as possible.
