Sorry to be a pain but I remain confused by this, and iit's very relevant to an upcoming travel situation. I thought Silver status entitled a person to a free bag for oneself and possibly one companion. (As I look at United's explanation of baggage fee benefits, I in fact don't see any mention of companions at alll, only for E+ and preferred seating). Are you suggesting that if a Silver travels on the same PNR and checks in with two companions that all three will have their bag fees waived? If so, is this a policy or a YMMV situation?
