Hard to guess what happened, but it seems like an error. Maybe try for three-way call with UA and NH?

???? ANA has nothing to do with PlusPoints return. I don't think PlusPoints are even removed from your account until upgrade successful. Were PlusPoints removed from your account when you requested the waitlist?
The pluspoints are deducted when waitlisting with NH or LH as standard.
