I was able to get my record locator for AA, but AA.com also doesn't let me do it. Does it even make sense to change the frequent flyer number from BA to AA? I don't have status with either airline.

Thanks,
Since you have no status in either FFP, the only possible reason to switch your number from BAEC to AAdvantage would be so that AA could throw some AAdvantage miles your way in the event of some sort of service issue.

It's been suggested in the past that one use the "Manage My Booking" function on the Finnair, Qatar Airways, or Royal Air Maroc websites to remove your BAEC number from your booking. Then go back to your booking at ba.com, and try to add your AAdvantage number there, or contact AA (by phone or Twitter) and ask AA to add your AAdvantage number to your booking.
