EWR-PHX or vv. is a nearly impossible CPU route for a Silver.

You could, if you so chose, split the reservation after dropping off your bags. Note that this also splits your return flights if you're on a round-trip ticket (rather than two one-way tickets), which may make this more challenging / impossible when you check in at PHX for your return.
