This is a time where any "inappropriate" behavior is quickly publicized by anyone who has a bone to pick.
It is indeed inappropriate. Flying business class is neither a perk nor a gift by the employer.
It is an expense made for the good of the company to ensure better performance by the employee once he reaches destination.
One arrives fresher and performs better after a long haul flight in biz than in Y.
Same thing for hotels. Some employees try to make extra cash by staying at lower class hotels than mandated by the company, pocketing the pro diem allowance and staying at Ibis budget. Quality of sleep is not the same as in Novotel or Pullman, is it? In which case, performance suffers.
