I understand I will need to call in to split the reservation if I want to be eligible for CPU. I also know the chances of that clearing are probably pretty much zero, so it may not be worth the trouble for that. However, the free E+ seating at check in for two of us is something I do want. Does the reservation need to be split for that? And if I split the reservation, will the separated companion (s) still be able to get the free baggage benefit?

TIA
For E+ seating online, you will need to split, But you can call into after check in start and get E+ for you and a companion.
As for CPU, that will require splitting the PNR and for a silver and companion would be unlikely ( what is the route?)
Your Silver bag benefit does require being on the same PNR but if you wait till bag check-in you can handle the bag for all and the split.

Personally, I would settle to call in for the E+ (for two) and get the bag benefit for all and not do any splitting.
