It's not unusual for a flight to show a significant number of unsold seats a month out. Lots of bookings occur closer to departure.
There is a display saying, 'x seats available' on the website seat selection screen.
Never noticed it until this thread; not sure if it is new or has been there for a while and I had paid it no mind.
