Not everyone selects their seat when they purchase their ticket. And you can't select your seat if you purchase a basic economy ticket. The seat map just shows which seats currently haven't been assigned to a passenger, not how many seats haven't been sold on the aircraft

Just wondering: Is there any reason that someone who did not purchase a Basic Economy ticket would not choose their seat at the time of booking?
And: Should I be nervous that the flight is less than half full (74 seats sold/80 available)? Is there a chance that they would cancel the flight because of that?
