They did mix up the order. FYI: Their phone isn’t answered until after they open, so having an early takeout won’t work.
Glad you liked it. We were there last week again and it never disappoints.
We tried a new (to us) burger place on Sunday. The Daley on Nu'uanu at Hotel. They do one thing and they do it very well - a smash burger. That, plus fries, is the only thing on the menu. Hawaii grass-fed beef (single or double, they also have a plant-based version), with their house sauce, cheese and grilled onions on a toasted potato bun - no other options, not even lettuce and tomato. Until now, Honolulu Burger Co. has been our number one burger go-to but The Daley is a close second. Pricier than HBC, but very good. It is just around the corner from another of my favorite dives, Maria Bonita (Mexican).
Still on my quest for great shawarma, we have done take out a couple of times from Shaloha in Kaimuki, on Waialae right across from City Mill.Take out only, a tiny, tiny place which is basically just a table at the front door to order from. Owned by an Israeli guy, it is a good, solid take out meal. Huge portions - one shawarma platter feeds two of us for two meals, with a massive portion of shawarma,
along with hummus, red cabbage, white cabbage, tabbouleh salad, Israeli salad, turmeric rice, two pitas, and two sauces on the side. We also get a side order of hummus and his awesome freshly made and still-hot pita chips. If I have one complaint, it is that the hummus is not as garlicky as I like but I just add some garlic at home and it is perfect.
