Qantas tend to be less generous than BA. As a Gold/Emerald, I was entitled to 3 x 32kg on LHR - SYD but only 2 x 32 from SYD to AKL. I only checked in 2 bags so I didn't test the flexibility on this. I believe I have taken 3 in the past, but not certain.
