Potentially have an overnight 16 hour layover coming up.

When flying through other cities (eg BKK) - my bags have been tagged all the way through, i just have a simple day bag packed and exit through immigration as per normal as though I was arriving to my destination.

On return to airport, show my 2nd leg boarding pass and re-enter immigration.

Trying to understand both the baggage transfer and the immigration process.
