7 Hour Schedule Change on Award Flight - Refused Alternate Flight - Suggestions
This may be a lost cause but have a very annoying problem. Have a AF flight booked with Virgin Miles. Specifically picked Air France to do a long full day layover in Paris on way to Italy as my daughter really wanted to see Paris. Found a great flight that landed at about 7am with 2nd leg leaving at 8pm giving us full day. Booked a tour guide and have full itinerary already planned. (This is for August by the way).
Today get a message that they've rescheduled the flight to now leave 7 hours later leaving us with a 6 hour layover in Paris - really not enough time to leave the airport and a very annoying length layover to stay in the airport. Whole reason for this route was Paris.
Air France apparently for large schedule changes said they won't rebook you on a award ticket onto an alternate flight unless award tickets would be available to book on that fight that when rebooking. Despite the fact that they have multiple other flights with less than half-filled cabins that that arrive far earlier in the day, they refuse to let us change flights. They'll offer a refund - but that does us no good.
Anyone have any suggestions or where to appeal to to see if they'll make an exception. I understand flight schedules may change by a couple hours but a 7 hour change seems that it should deserve a rebooking on a different time flight.
Really don't want to have to tell kids we have to cut out our Paris day.
