When it was new I quite liked it. Then again I was quite new to rental cars at the time and dealing with the under 25 problem myself. The 300 was rapped about a lot and the platform was the old Mercedes E class platform which I got a kick out of. Back then it was extremely rare to get a German car as a rental, the 300 was a solid PCAR (and built on a German platform). I remember scoring a Cadillac DTS as an upgrade from PCAR back then and I was quite happy to have a V8 and HID headlights (the 300 is still missing decent headlights as far as I know, I don't think an LCAR should have halogen bulbs).
The 300C with the V8 was possibly my favourite PCAR, but they were rare and now probably non-existent in the fleet. I'm also not your typical renter, I favour performance over comfort and luggage capacity.
