Having just flown both, I found the Room preferable to the Square. The seat was much wider, the bedding / sleeping experience didn't feel different either way, and frankly I don't really care about the service if the hard product is good. And I have windows to look out of in the Room whereas the Square blocks the view.
The service in F is definitely better and more personal, and the food is much more extensive. The seat is also much longer in bed form, which may matter to you if you're taller than me. If you really like Krug and caviar then you're only going to get that in first. But I just want a comfy seat, a bed, and some views, and for me the Room did all that.
These reviews would be more beneficial if folks stated how tall they are and approximate shoe size

At 191cm and 31cm foot I find pretty much any “cubby” style J to be far inferior to the Square/Suite.
