From what I understood, FS Langkawi excels in both the rainforest experience and the beach, while Ritz doesn't excel in either. Datai is out of question simply because it is fully booked. For now I have taken the last partial sea view upper floor pavilion at FS as the only other option was garden view ground floor. Those two hotels are fully booked over Easter week, while the others like Ritz and St Regis have plenty of availability which I think speaks highly of the first two. However I must say that oceanfront villa with private pool at Ritz looks very tempting, but from the reviews it seems the service is not as polished as at FS? Does someone has recent comparison between Ritz & FS? I am a bit picky and I definitely want to have the best dining experience on the island in terms of food quality, ambiance, service. I am still in two folds whether I can put a blind eye on the FS being a tired property as per the reviews and in a need of major refurb...
