I wonder if the 'Written Off' column represents aircraft lost in accidents or plane crashes...

How long can American run the MD 80s anyway? It seems that a large number of them were delivered in the 1980s/early 90s. I remember flying in some regional prop jets that were 25 or 30 years old, but do airlines fly the larger jets for that long?

It seems that 95% of the jets I fly on out of DFW are MD 80s. It looks like they may stay around for a while longer.
