Now, if PHX were my home airport it would be another story. It's generally a convenient airport, close to Downtown, Tempe, S'dale, etc. It's a fine place to begin or end a journey. Just not a great place to kill time. I'm usually there between 7am and 12 noon when the terminals are absolutely packed. To get a decent meal, you have to leave the secure area and go to the departures hall, or leave the airport entirely. The WN side of the terminal is a little bit better.
