I noticed when going through FTD normally, the 'service fee' was $9.99. Going through using Worldperks mall or Mypoints upped the service fee to $10.99. So it really boils down to how much you are paying for the flowers and how much you value miles.
For a discount, the $25 ereward for FTD is one of the best uses of erewards currency.
After attempting to redeem a $25 FTD e-reward (sucessfully) i have come to believe that FTD is one of the "slickest" operations out there.
By that I mean, I have found that there is no way for you to "stack" bonuses or discounts with one another -- you cannot get an Entertainment Discount while earning United FF miles, or any other permutation that you might think of, together, as they are all mutually exclusive -- FTD seeing to that by limiting you to one specific portal per "promotion/discount."
For example, I attempted to use the e-reward with the current United FF miles Christmas promotion -- but you cannot.
Where you would put your United FF number is there, but not so the box for the e-reward! Correspondingly, where you put the e-reward discount number prevents yor from even trying to enter a frequency program number!
Having spent e-rewards points for the $25 "discount" -- after, of course, both a delivery fee and a separate "handling" fee -- you would have thought that they would have permitted you to earn some points -- but noooooooooo!
Finally, I, too, have noticed that the delivery fee magically changes depending upon the specific portal that you use! It can deviate from $7.99 to $11.99 for the item that I purchased, and probably does for others, as well, not to mention that special "handling" fee.
I have come to realize that FTD and perhaps the other flower delivery companies, probably have used the car rental agencies as a model for the multiplicity for their pricing.
However, at least with the latter, you can sometimes "negotiate" a good rate if you have the right code/coupon. In my experience, not so with FTD.
I think I will refrain from another great FTD deal from e-rewards in the future, thank you very much.
