There are rules and then there's what actually happens in real life. I'm 2/2 on getting no-cost cancellations or modifications done on the day I was supposed to check in. Again, having status may have helped. Hyatt (once MHC, once the globalist line) just called the hotel and they agreed to the change I wanted to make. I would not try to deal with the hotel myself here -- go through Hyatt.
