Hi everyone,
I am looking for a flight that I hope I don't actually have to take! So this is a back up ticket, that if the universe alligns, will be cancelled, albeit only a few hours before departure. So i'm trying to work out the cancellation options.
The route is JNB-DOH-LGW. I saw on the QR website that you can "get a voucher with 10% value, or a refund". The fare i'm looking at is Economy Convenience fare (S), which is ZAR 7448 inc tax. Fare refund rules are:
Johannesburg - London
No-show for first flightRefund: Allowed with restrictionsPenalty fee between: 3360.00 ZAR / 3360.00 ZAR Maximum Refund penalty fee for entire ticket: 3360.00 ZAR
No-show for subsequent flight(s)Refund: Allowed with restrictionsPenalty fee between: 3360.00 ZAR / 3360.00 ZAR Maximum Refund penalty fee for entire ticket: 3360.00 ZAR
Prior to Departure of first flightRefund: Allowed with restrictionsPenalty fee between: 1820.00 ZAR / 3360.00 ZAR Maximum Refund penalty fee for entire ticket: 3360.00 ZAR
After departure of first flightRefund: Allowed with restrictionsPenalty fee between: 3360.00 ZAR / 3360.00 ZAR Maximum Refund penalty fee for entire ticket: 3360.00 ZAR
Now, if I cancel before departure and and want the voucher, am I going to get a voucher of 110% of the fare I paid? (ZAR 8192)
Or is it the fare I paid minus 1820 (or 3360?), then add 10%? (6190 or 4496)
If I
don't want the voucher, it's the fare paid minus 1820 (or 3360?)? is that correct?
Also, does anyone know what the "Refund: Allowed with restrictions" means? Unfortunately the full fare rules won't open, so I can't see any more fare details. Is there normally a deadline for cancelled before the flight? I'll only know if I need to cancel a few hours before departure (on the same day). And is there a fee to be paid on top of the refund (handling fee)?
Sorry lots of questions, hopefully someone has some real-world experience! Thanks!
