Stayed at the Westin Palace Madrid last December and due to the busy holiday season as well as my wife injuring her foot during the trip, I never got around to posting.
It was a really wonderful stay! The Westin Palace Madrid has always been a very special place for me (more or less my "home" in Madrid) and I have stayed there in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2017, in a combination of upgraded rooms and wonderful suites, and I love its location in Las Letras as well as the wonderful service!
So our return in December 2022 after 5 years absence did not disappoint, and because my wife hurt her foot on the plane, the care and exceptional service of the Concierge team made the stay even more memorable!
The check in was nice as they recognized my Lifetime Titanium Status but did not gave me a suite upgrade - instead, we were given a very comfortable Executive King with the view of the Neptuno Fountain, with a beautiful marble bathroom. I have had grand suites at this hotel, but this Executive King room has a really nice homy feel that it's hard to explain!
Breakfast at La Rotonda was wonderful, borderline spectacular with Spanish Cava (if you want it in the morning) and the famed Jamon Iberico (I come to Madrid just for this delicacy!) as much as you want. Of course, all the made-for-you omelets and amazing fresh fruits that you want, and the dramatic coupole of La Rotonda made for a memorable meal experience.
Ate at both Asia Gallery (Chinese food) and Green T Sushi Bar and while they are not to be confused with being in Hong Kong or Tokyo, the food was inventive and delicious, with impeccable service worthy of a fine Madrilene dining experience.
The Concierge team connected us with the emergency room at Hospital Ruber Juan Bravo so that we can be seen without having to wait too long, provided my wife a wheelchair for our use during the stay, made sure that our table was near the food at breakfast, and Ana (she is a world class Concierge) helped me to call around to get the orthopedic shoe for my wife (it was a holiday in Spain so everything was closed). Ana then helped me cancel our reservation at the 1 Michelin star Clos Madrid without any penalty and then rebooked for us the next night when my wife felt well enough to go. What amazing service!
I have since built a nice relationship with their Director of Rooms and she informed me that the hotel will start an extensive renovation starting in April 2023 for 14 months to eventually become a Luxury Collection hotel (which I believe that this hotel should be). We will be back at the Westin Palace Madrid later this year, on our way to Paris.
