LOL...Yeah, while I make every effort not to be rude or obnoxious, I can't help but reflexively turning my head and think, "dude, you have to sit here?" Anyway, I'm from the school where if it ain't broke, don't fix it. IMHO, WN's boarding process works, every pax understands it, and there are no surprises during the process.
By the way, with assigned seats, unless one doesn't have a carry on, boarding last isn't always an option. Unless one were in F, and even then boarding late requires an FA to sort out the bag which doesn't belong to make way for yours, and their not always overly thrilled at having to sort it out.
