... hey, if they've figured out a way to make $$ off of people's irrational fears and need to sit up front, the better for the rest of us! Hell, if I could sell my almost-always A16-24 to some kettle infrequent flyer I'd do it and board at "A-61"; I'm always in the back anyway (and have never missed a connection doing so).
