I would/ should be coming into a period of finally being an "Amanjunkie" around this time of my life, but I'm seeing so many reports of meh service at now super-priced Amans that I honestly don't think that I'm that keen on visiting an Aman any more. I'm writing this from a 600 year old private villa outside of Rome previously used by Popes with its own private thermals baths and a wonderfully capable host which I booked for less than $400 a night. I do not want to be pissed off at blowing $20K+ for a crappy stay somewhere. My greatest hotel stay of all time shall probably remain Amanjiwo, but I'm regrettably concluding that I won't be collecting the Aman names anytime soon.
