There aren't usually that many Hilton-family hotel openings in Oregon - so two within a month is pretty special.
The most exciting one is the
Holman Riverfront Park Hotel. Located in Salem, the state's legislative center, where debates have been going on for decades about whether self-serve gas stations pose a threat to public health or not. And sure enough, this month there are important new developments!

Here's a great read on the tremendous impact of the automobile on downtown Salem (capital of Marion County as well) which played a crucial role in the creation of the new hotel. The report even reveals how the hotel got its name.

The second one that just opened is the
Hampton Inn Redmond Bend Airport. The date was delayed by two years because of a fire in December 2020, just a week before the sprinkler system became operational.

The other ore. hotel that was to open this year as a Tapestry was the Saltline hotel in Seaside, on the Pacific Ocean. But this one has a rather strange progression. The hotel opened its doors and a short time later hilton.com reported that it would become a Tapestry around Christmas. By that time the date was then pushed back by 1.5 years to June 2023. Now another year has been added. Yet the hotel is doing business as usual, but not as a Tapestry. Perhaps they're waiting for the first self-serve station to open?

BTW Dit you know that in 1971 Oregon was the first state to ban non-returnable bottles and cans because these made up 40% of the roadside litter?
