I have seen them do that and a snack on a DC-10 AA ORD-YUL. They had those underfloor galleys back then and that meant carts going up and down to the Gally Slave.They worked their socks off back then. Meals and drinks appeared on all sorts of short flights in those days - I would add that PDBs were then norm rather than the exception as it is today. Still, whilst it is fun to look back we know those days are gone. I'm just glad that I got to fly AA's HNL service when First meant First and those immense joints of beef were served as lunch or dinner.
