For the first time, my EU to IST flight had a contact gate in IST (usually remote stand, no matter if wide body or narrow body) and we promptly ended up in the international transfer zone with the requirement to re-clear security. Rather annoying when on a tight schedule.

Is this the norm for contact gates? All remote stand arrivals with a bus transfer to the terminal did not require re-clearing security, but got us into the departure lounge right away.
