Upgrades to empty business class seats on long haul intl flights
How does AA upgrade folks to business class on long haul intl flights when there are empty seats? Suppose there are no SWUs or mileage upgrades used, but empty seats. What happens? Do they fly out with empty business class seats? Recently, on a flight CDG-JFK, I swear that the French GA gave business class seats to random people on standby without status.
