If last year is any indication, we are going to get to the summer and posters are going to be frantically wondering why there isn't any award space available.

Booking fares like this when they become available is one way to avoid that. $2450 US for East Coast -> Europe in J on something that isn't TAP or Icelandair in the middle of the summer is definitely a good deal. Inflation's gone up 16% since 2020.
