Yeah… I usually book two one-ways for precisely this reason. Somehow I forgot. I was sure I’d had a rep split a PNR for me like that before.

The problem with canceling and rebooking is that I am two weeks out now, and would lose any savings on the unchanged leg from cheaper fare buckets.

And just changing the second leg wasn’t an option, as I wanted to fly home from a different airport (SAN-TUS-SAN originally; SAN-TUS & PHX-SAN desired). It wouldn’t let me make that change online, and I needed to evaluate the coat differential (air, hotel, car) before making any changes.

Anyway, I ended up canceling just the second leg (online) and rebooking what I wanted/needed. It just seems like splitting it into two PNRs would have been simpler on my end.

Mostly now I’m just curious if I am misremembering, if something changed, or if the rep was wrong.
