Qantas at some point operated the Fiesta Route SYD-LHR ,which amongst others, included stops in Acapulco and IIRC, Bermuda.
They did indeed!

It was SYD-NAN-PPT-ACA-MEX-NAS-BDA-LHR as Qantas 580. The return departed LHR on a Saturday, doing the same in reverse as flight 581.

(Sydney - Nadi, Fiji - Papeete, Tahiti - Acapulco, Mexico - Mexico City - Nassau, Bahamas - Bermuda - London Heathrow for those that don't know all those codes!)

It started in 1964 and was still going in 1970. I wrote about it in an article here.

To get back to the original post, I once flew SYD-LAX-DUB on Qantas and Aer Lingus instead of the usual SYD-(SIN/DOH/BKK/HKG)-LHR. It was because that's where the award seats were for the redemption I was doing. I wouldn't recommend it. It's longer and I was going stir crazy on the EI flight after flying in economy for so long. I was also sat by the galley and the crew were having a quintessentially Irish animated chat together for a good while when trying to sleep. They were so noisy I went and joined them for a bit, just for something to do
